LET’S PEACE PREVAIL AGAIN.

By Ebenezer Zor
Presidential candidates
“Peace is more important than anything. Peace was not made for justice rather just made for peace”. Martin Luther King.

Another year has come for us to entrust our sovereignty into the hands of  politicians to bring the change we need and coincidentally Ghana will go to polls come 7th December 2012 to elect a president and parliamentary candidates to control the helm of the nation’s affairs for the next four years.

This electioneering period will the sixth elections to choose the sixth president of the fourth republic under the 1992 constitution.

Already all the political parties are rounding up their rallies and campaign strategies to go down with the electorate in order to scramble their votes ahead of the December polls.
Ghana has enjoyed an abundant of peace from the Almighty God over these years and there is no reason why this election should be different from previous ones we have seen.

As the nation enters its electioneering era this Friday we must work to maintain serene atmosphere of peace during, before and after elections.

To our politicians who are desperately capable of unlocking possibilities in the name of votes should show decency in their utterances towards political opponents and also desist from the habit of inducing the electorates with money to vote in their favor.

The national security personnel likewise other services who will be deployed to the various constituencies must strive hard to maintain law and order without tolerating any deviant or social miscreant irrespective of political connections who attempts to the law into his or own hands.

Notwithstanding that, the media houses must be fair, accurate and balance in their reportage. Again the media should not display any political paraphernalia in the name of campaigns.

Of course leadership is about choices and it is our duty as electorate to contribute to the quota of peace by restraining from conversations that intend to inflame division, commotion hence violence at the polling stations across the entire length and breadth of the country.

Every single vote counts in electing the presidential and parliamentary candidates and so l urge all voters not to only focus on policies for some are just campaign messages but rather vote for a leader who is affable, benevolent, competent, diligent, honest, incorruptible figure, work-alcoholic, trustworthy and above all God fearing.

Your vote could be bring the change you longed for so therefore do not be intimated, go out there to exercise your franchise and come home peacefully to await the result and change you sought for.

The National Media Commission must have its eyes on the ground so that the media does not act differently form the code and ethics of the profession.

I entreat the electoral commission to resist any form of solace of declaring the results to favor a party. On this note politicians must prepare their mind and soul to accept the total outcome since they have documented the peace pledges.

Let us remember that the whole Africa and Diaspora are all looking up to us to once again hold a peaceful election since Ghana has epitomized peace and hope over these years.

God bless our homeland Ghana.
