With just a match left after this week fixtures to drawn the
curtains on the first round leg of the Glo Premiership for 2012/2013 season
some teams will continue to build points for a respectable position whiles
others struggle to escape from bottom place hence relegation in the 14th
week encounters at the various league venues over the weekend.
Two matches will be honoured today.
Bottom place still serving ban of playing home matches away
as result of crowd violence in the week five against Medeama, will kick start
of the 14th week fixtures as they welcome Christmas Boxing Day team
of the week Liberty Professionals to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday.
RTU will have to keep themselves above the waters to avoid embarrassment form
the scientific soccer lads Liberty who last week annihilated Chelsea by 5-1 at
the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park.
WhileWa All Stars pit against Ashantigold at the Wa
Park in the Upper West Region.
Defending champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko having won 3-2
against RTU on Boxing Day will attempt to reciprocate such performance as they
play as guest to Alhali Karim Grusah side King Faisal Babies in all Kumasi
derby at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Coach Mallam Yaya’s King Faisal drew goalless with Medeama
away in the 12th week and for that might go all out for the spoils
to better the slot since a loss will automatically slip them down close to the
relegation yawning net as they lie tenth with 16 points.
Kokoko who has lost once in this season, fourth on the
league log with 22 points and two points gap behind third place Berekum Chelsea
out of 13 matches have to fasten their belts against old bogey Faisal.
However matches between both teams have been keenly
contested for the exchange of respect, fame, bragging rights and superiority
over the other.
Chelsea is yet to recuperate from 5-1 annihilation suffered
from Liberty as they come face to face sensational Amidaus Professionals’ at
the Golden City Park in match climax as may the best side emerge victorious.
League leaders Aduana Stars will have to embark on journey
to play as guest to New Edubiase at the
Gymafi Park in Bekwai. Edubiase with 15
points and 11th on the league standings must win this game to jump
from the territory of bottom five for a respectable place before the first
round ends. Invariably Aduana Stars will build on their solid work so far in
this season for the contention of the trophy. A loss or draw by Aduana if all
results being equal will drop them down from the top spot.
Relegation beckoning sides Tema Youth third from the bottom
of the ladder with 12 points and Arsenals second from the bottom with nine
points will engage in match of their lives at the Tema Park in the 14th
week fixture of the Glo premiership. Tema Youth lost 1-0 to Aduana at Dorman Ahenkro while Arsenal drew
2-2 with Hearts of Oak at the Golden City Park.
Both teams will target a win to build up points before the
first round is brought to a halt.
Another relegation and under the cosh team Accra Hearts of
Oak fourth from the bottom with 14 points will find unease as they host second
place Medeama with 24 points out of matches already played at the Accra Sports
Stadium. Unpromising Hearts drew two all
with Arsenals way whereas Medeama were held to a goalless draw by Faisal at
home. A win or loss could either favour or disfavor both teams with regards to
other results.
At the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium in Cape Coast, Ebusua
Dwarfs will host Lions.
