BEREKUM CHELSEA ENDS KOTOKO’S UNBEATEN CAMPAIGN

Berekum Chelsea showed class as two goals form ex-players of the defending champions Kotoko halted Kotoko's 11- games unbeaten record in the ongoing Glo Premier League week 12 last Sunday at the Golden City Park to go on top.

Although per current form Chelsea were the favourite,  Kokoto did wanted to prove their case before the teeming fans as force to reckon with.

But a Latif Salifu pass which saw Eric Bekoe beat the offside trap set by the defense man of Kotoko beautifully looped the ball over goalkeeper Felix Annan to break the deadlock in the 22 minutes of the first half.

The defending champions who could not harbor such mood kept pressuring for an equalizer but most of their attacks were cut short Chelsea defenders masterminded by Edward Kpodo.

Until in the 41 minutes Jordan Opoku virtually walked the ball into net of Kotoko after a sluggish defensive clearance from Yaw Acheampong to register the second goal for the host Berekum Chelsea.

Kotoko instantly pulled out Natifu Iddrisu and brought in Kofi Nti Boakye as the game went into a recess.

The second department of the game saw both sides engaging in a ding-dong affair just to increase the tally for Chelsea or Kotoko to cancel their deficit. Kotoko had to play the next 15 minutes with 10 men after referee Jonathan Tetteh issued a second yellow card to Kwabena Adusei for a career threaten challenge on Eric Bekoe the goal getter.

Five minutes of injury time exactly after 90 minutes was not enough for Kotoko to come back into the game as referee Jonathan Tettet blew his whistle for end of hostilities.
