Ayew brothers announced temporal retirement from Ghana duties.

Ghana and Marseille players Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew have announced their temporal retirement from international football.

The France-based players have asked the Ghana Football Association (GFA) not to consider them for future call-ups into the Black Stars.

The revelation is a massive blow to the 2014 World Cup chances of the Black Stars as both players are considered as key for the country.

The two brothers turned in their resignation letter to the GFA on Tuesday but the GFA is yet to confirm the decision by the Ayew brothers.

The decision by the sons of legend Abedi Pele comes in the wake of their exclusion from Ghana's squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Jordan Ayew was excluded from the intial 26-man squad for the tournament which was announced by coach Kwesi Appiah on December.

Andre Ayew was included in the squad but was subsequently dropped after he failed to arrive in time to be examined by the Ghana team doctors after suffering a hamstring injury.

Jordan was furious over the decision to exclude him and cited Kevin Prince Boateng's decision to quit the Black Stars as some of the thing not normal in the Ghana federation.

Andre echoed similar sentiments when he was also left out squad expressing his shock over Kwesi Appiah insisting he arrives in camp to be examined by the Ghana doctors.

“It was shocking. The coach based on the fact that he only wanted players [who are 100%], which is surprising because apparently there are a lot of casualties there,” Andre Ayew said last month in the wake of his exclusion from the squad.

“I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed. It made me know some people in the staff and federation.

"Ghana is a big nation. There are things happening that are not normal, Kevin Prince Boateng issue shows that there are reasons,” Ayew added.

While the Ayews might have their reasons, some have pointed to disciplinary problems for their run-ins with Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.

Andre was given an ultimatum to apologise over some tantrums he was alleged to have thrown at the coach when he was substituted in their Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi in Blantyre.

Andre scored four goals in 43 appearances for Ghana while Jordan scored twice in his 10 matches for the Black Stars.

Settle per diems of athletes - GAF

It is harrowing and nauseating to view Ghanaian athletes who stood in for the country in last year athletic games in Benin have not had their bonuses, and balances paid off.

These very people like Margaret Simpson, Ignatius Gazah just to mention a few who committed themselves to bring fame and honour to the country after a splendid performance are struggling it out with the authorities.

Who is to be blame? Is it the Government, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Council (NSC) or the Ghana Athletics Federation (GAF)?

Personally, athletics as sports over these years have been looked far beyond the admiration of most people as compare to the nation’s favourite football. If the rate of attention accorded to football is fairly channel to athletics, I don’t think such issues would be floating on the surface of the nation.

If it were to be football, would the players voice out before receiving the incitements; certainly not and this will be consequences when there are inequalities regarding sporting disciplines in the country.

This sort of improper managements must be stopped because when it becomes serious more than a canker to deal with, I will not be surprise when up and coming athletes , coaches or technical men would not love to be in this re-occurring  burden.

The government through the ministry of sports and other stakeholders of importance must do every thing possible within their limit to resolve this mess in order to safeguard the passion and enthusiasm of the athletes.

Referees must ensure good officating.

There will be a lot of surprises as the second round of the Glo Premier League has returned after just ended AFCON 2013 in South Africa.

All the managements and clubs would strive very hard to produce excellent results to enable their respective teams stay in the top flight immediately all is certain and done.

However, referees would not be left out from the scene as much will be needed from them in ensuring good officiating without any kick – backs.

For all you know, normally during second leg matches teams who may want escape relegation due to poor performance might be tempted to secure the services of another player which is the referee into their present squad.

Beside this point, I doff my heart out for the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) for organizing fitness test for its outfits to prepare them for the second round encounters at the various league centers.
But all the same, referees must be disciples of good officiating not as an additional player to teams in the name of kick-backs.

Stop lampooning Black Stars failure.

Football undoubtedly has not only become a passion but the nation’s lucrative venture targeted at expanding the tentacles of nation's global networking.

Invariably, such mentality changed as the Stars took the nation for granted which necessitated for some class of people to pitch them as players so keen about money but not getting the job done.

The Black Stars abysmal performance during 2013 AFCON South tourney  raised several eye brows amidst a lot of happenings that led to their inability to lift trophy in 31 years plus but manage to book a  place fourth at the end of tunnel of which was a bitter pill for the nation to swallow.

Some section of the populace even though the Coach James Akwasi Appiah has been maintained still believes there is a lot to be done and for that some players like John Painstil, Derek Boateng, Issac Vorsah, Emmaunel Agyemang Badu and of course Asamoah Gyan must excluded from the team since is glaring that such players have come to the end of the road as far as national assignments are concerned.

Obviously there are no qualms about advocating for matters to get right or stopping any unforeseen happenings because opinions they say are like noses, each every one has it.

However, it is high time Ghanians ceasefire on the chastisement, lampooning, criticizing severely and propagating fear and panic instead of initiating ideas aimed at looking the way forward for the team ahead of the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers.

The lengthy and insightful complain will not bring or win a trophy to the nation for the harm has already been committed.

Yes, their performance was as bad as the pitch at the Mbombela stadium in South Africa but we cannot allow such mess to occupy our minds all the time for when such happen there will be no progress for team and soccer loving fans.

Everybody will one way or the other blame the Ghana Football Association and the entire technical bench for the fiasco but let bygone to be bygones so that the team can continue with their rebuilding exercise in the interest of the country.

Check snakes at Tema Park.

How often will Tema artificial turf be a dwelling abode of snakes while football is in a process?

Some fans and security personnel were spotted busily unleashing bricks of kinds on snake off the field during the second round of the 2012/ 2013 Glo Premiership match-day 16 between host Tema Youth and visitors Medeama SC.

This should not be a matter of spiritual antics but people’s lives are living dangerously if measures are not outlined to curb the weird appearance of a snake.

Away from this point, the turf does not provide seats as fans are always on their tiring feet in the sun through the entire 90 minutes.

It is about time the Tema Municipal takes a bite on this issue.

Still on this, Government must expand its tentacles to assist to prettify the turf to avoid snakes from encroaching to wreck damage on supporter.

He will be playing himself in the dramatic soap that is broadcast every day (Monday to Friday) at 20:30 CAT on AfricaMagic Entertainment.

“I actually really enjoyed myself, I mean great cast, wonderful director, everyone on set – very professional. And all the elements of drama can be found in TINSEL. The suspense, wondering what happens next?,” Michel says of his experience on the production.

“A long time ago, I realized that my acting is not only about myself, it’s an extension of many things that I hope for in our industry. So I made up my mind to extend myself to film projects that improve our movie making prospects within the continent. I believe that this can also inspire young actors coming behind me. TINSEL is a typical reflection of that, after all, its’ one of the most successful soaps out of Nigeria.

“My fans have seen me play several diversified roles over the years but they know they’re going to be in for a ride each time and at the end, for a big surprise! Wanlov: "I want to be a gay"

Musician Wanlov the Kubolor never ceases to amaze; he walks about wearing a skirt with no underwear and no footwear.

Kubolor has told NEWS-ONE’s Nii Ogbamey Tetteh that he would have loved to be turned into a homosexual just so he could have a romantic date with Ghana’s reggae artiste of the year, Blakk Rasta.

“For Vals Day, God should turn me into a gay so that I can go on a romantic date with Blakk Rasta, listening to the instrumentals of the D-Black’s Vera,” Wanlov told the NEWS-ONE reporter.

“I want this wish because I want Blakk Rasta to know that gays are cool and not people who are out to rape you or anything,” he said, adding, “I only want to be gay and achieve that dream with Blakk Rasta and no one. After the date, then I will want God to make me straight again.”

It is shocking that Wanlov would want to express such thoughts in a country where homosexual relationships are considered both an abomination and a crime.

He however explained that the reason behind this wish was because the ‘conscious’ Blakk Rasta had been ‘bashing’ gays and lesbians in the world, quoting him, “I’m am allergic to pro-gay people.”

But Blakk, in response, told the paper he was not interested in dating a gay because his ‘Rastafarianism’ frowned on such acts.

“Kubolor’s sister, Deborah Vanessa, said on 4syte TV last time that she was dying to date me; why won’t I do her for Valentine instead of the brother?

“I am a Rastaman and we do not take gay relationships lightly. It is not as if we do not know that gays have their basic human rights but we do not support what they do, as in having sexual intercourse with a person of same sex.

It is not that we are saying they should be beaten up but we say it is an abominable act and we do not want to associate with it.

“So for Wanlov to say that about me, I am sure he was having a big joke or something. But if he is serious, then I am sorry because he would get disappointed. It won’t happen,” Blakk noted.

Blakk is perceived to have had a long running feud with Wanlov and this was his response when NEWS-ONE asked him about it:

“Wanlov made some utterances which I thought were in a bad taste so I passed a comment on it but he took it personal and started saying so many things but I have made my point so I do not really mind.

“That’s how I am. I make my point and I do not expect everyone to agree with me but it does not mean I take things personal. I have forgotten about that and Wanlov knows that if I meet him today, I would hug him.”

Blakk seems to have stepped on several toes with his mid morning programme on Hitz FM.

Agyin Asare has denied receiving a Land Cruiser Vehicle as a gift from President John Mahama

The Presiding Bishop of the Word Miracle International Church, Charles Agyin Asare has denied receiving a Land Cruiser Vehicle as a gift from President John Mahama as alleged by a member of the main opposition New Patriotic Party’s Communication team member Hopeson Adorye.

A statement of denial issued by the Church signed by its Metropolitan Bishop Rt. Rev. Benjamin Ohene Aboagye said: “We vigorously refute the allegation and state that it is not true”.

The Church strongly asserted: “His Eminence has not received any vehicle from His Excellency the President of the Republic”, noting that: “The vehicle at the disposal of Bishop Agyin Asare, in the first place, is not a Land Cruiser and it is an official vehicle of the Word Miracle Church”.

The statement also mentioned that: “The Presiding Bishop does not want to engage Mr. Adorye in a Theological debate”.

Hopeson Adorye allegedly made the allegation on private radio station Peace FM following the Bishop’s description of a doomsday Prophesy concerning President Mahama by the Founder and leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah as “pastorally and scripturally unethical” and meant “to create panic and despair”.

Rev Owusu Bempah revealed two weeks ago on private radio station Adom FM that President Mahama will die this year unless the President and his advisers took steps to reverse the prophesy.

He said the President and the people around him should take to prayers to reverse the revelation which he claimed he received from God on the night of December 31, 2012 and subsequently announced at the Church’s end of year service.

Rev Owusu Bempah claimed several attempts to get to the President to warn him have been stifled. “I have not been able to meet the President and inform him”, he said adding: “A similar thing happened when I prophesied about the late President Mills, but they turned me away.”

However, Bishop Agyin Asare declared in Church on Sunday February 10, 2013 that “President Mahama will not die a premature death” as prophesied by Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah.

Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare declared said in his sermon at the Perez Dome of the Word Miracle Church in Accra that: “By the authority vested in me as a prophet and an apostle to the nations and also as one of the spiritual watchmen at the gates of this nation and with the authority of heaven behind me, I declare that President John Mahama will not die a premature death before his time but he will live to declare the works of God”.

Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare chastised Rev Owusu Bempah for making the alleged revelation public through the media by admonishing that : “In the Bible when God told Isaiah to go to King Hezekiah to tell him he will die, he went to him, not stand in the Temple”, suggesting: “If this said minister was not gaining access to the President because of protocol, he should have gone to see the President’s pastor who would have led him to the President,” stressing that: “The only time prophets went to town with their prophesy was when the King refused to repent”.

Bishop Agyin Asare noted “God has not called us to prophesy the death of people but to give them life and to intercede for them”, adding: “We should not pride ourselves that we are prophesying the death of people”, saying: “As an Apostle and a Prophet of God, I neutralize anything prophesied against the President, spoken against him, invoked against him, any psychic commands and demands and any agreements of witches and wizards and I decree that the counsel of the Lord alone concerning him that shall stand”. Bishop Agyin Asare urged Rev Owusu Bempah “to be a man of God” and “preach the word”.

His condemnation of Owusu Bempah sparked a lot of media discussion on the matter culminating in the allegation by Hopeson Adorye.

I love you -Ekow

An affable, genial, beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, astonishing, amiable, eye-catching Nigerian studying Optometry at Kwame Nkrumah Science and Technology (KNUST).
Your passion to be an optometrist always drives you to help people and making sure they are happy. Mostly, you inspire people and also you are a source of motivation to those who look up to you especially her friends.
You cannot beat her with a coke and malt freak but yet she looks as tinny as what you can imagine.
I didn’t imagine how welcoming Symiee was until I travelled 5hrs from the oil city to visit her in the garden city(Kumasi).
This naija chick was a friend on BBM and graduated from just being a friend to an adorable queen who catch the eyes of every guy. When I told her my BB phone is not functioning so she should find a way for us to communicate, "because losing her is like not breathing for a second". I decided to give her my phone number.
For it is said the great science in the world, heaven and on earth is LOVE, I felt loved by this my Naija girlfriend who finds Ghana to be her second home.

The smile and love you showed on your face in front of your KNUST hostel gave me a different perception about you. That memories still live within my heart because in your room I couldn’t stop imagine the hospitality this naija lady gave me. In fact, “Her beauty was an intense love that does not measure”.
It is often said; There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart but the sweetness of Symiee has caught both eyes and heart that words could not describe.
There’re so many times I tried describing how much I love and like you, So many times I've been waiting for you to see my actions instead of words describing it but I tell you I can’t continue to hid my feelings but to express it greatest Love and friendship that we shear.
Everywhere I go, I'll think of the love and friendship of a great African queen which words cannot describe her beauty and love, but it only my heart that feels things the eyes cannot see, and knows what the mind cannot understand.

Metalex Ghana Limited treats workers

Some dismissed workers of Metalex Ghana Limited have accused management of the local firm for unfair treatment in the handling of the termination of their appointments believing they have been screwed.
They are therefore appealing to the National Labour Commission (NLC) to look into the circumstances that has led to their dismissal and for the right compensation to be paid them.

According to some of the dismissed workers this reporter spoke to, they have been laid off without the payment of any compensation, adding that this is a normal practice undertaken  by the management of the firm.
“From time to time, workers are laid off indiscriminately for no just reason despite the fact that we take great risks in the work we do”, said one who wants to remain anonymous.

He added: “Some of us have worked for up to nine years and to tell us that our services are no longer needed without any justifiable reason, is not fair and we want something done about that”.
Asked to give reason as to why he thinks they have been laid off, he said they were at work back in November last year when a new General Manager (Isaac Dompra) was appointed who told them in a circular that they (management)was about to carry out reforms going into the new year.

This according to him was also confirmed by the Managing Director (K. Adjare Danquah) who said that by January this year, a list would come out detailing those whose services would be needed for the future growth of the company.

That list was issued on February 4, 2013, without the names of those agitating and they believe they have not been treated fairly as some have worked for three, four, five and up to nine years.
According to the spokesperson for the dismissed workers, Mr. Adjare Danquah said those dismissed would only be paid a months salary for their troubles with no other benefits been paid them.

They (dismissed workers) numbering 24 said they are demanding to be paid fully for the years of dedicated service they have rendered to the company and have asked the NLC look into the matter as this is clearly an infringement on their labour rights.

National Security should summon Owusu Bempah - Rev. Wengham

Renowned Radio Pastor and Head of Cedar Mountain Chapel of the Assemblies of God Church, East Legon, Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengham, wants the National Security outfit to summon a colleague Man of God before them regarding an earth-shattering prophesy the latter publicly gave about President John Dramani Mahama last week.

He believes such an action by the security agencies will deter some Prophets from prophesying falsehood about the lives of people in the country.

Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah, a well-known Prophet and Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International on Friday stated in a radio interview that God revealed to him that President Mahama will die this year but the impending calamity could be averted if the entire nation, and most especially the President, sought God’s help through prayers.

According to him, the revelation came to him on the night of December 31, 2012 and he announced it at the Church’s end of year service. He however bemoaned his inability to meet the President and inform him about the dark cloud hanging over his head and the necessary steps to be taken to avert the looming disaster.

“I have not been able to meet the President and inform him. A similar thing happened when I prophesied about the late President Mills, but they turned me away,” he said.

But some other celebrated men of God are unhappy about the Prophet’s claims.

Days after his revelation, the General Overseer of the Action Faith Chapel International in Accra Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, in a terse language, chided Pastors who make doomsday prophecies against sitting Presidents saying some of the prophecies churned out by some pastors are borne out of greed and selfish aims and also don’t come from God.

Without any direct reference to any Pastor, Arch Bishop Duncan Williams warned that: “The thing that you must always look out for when you see all these prophets prophesying all kinds of doom on the internet against the President…is to ask yourself does [the Prophet] have honour, credibility, character and integrity? “Where did he come from? Who trained him? How long has he been on the scene? Who laid hands on him? Whose product is he? At whose feet did he study? Who groomed him? Who covered him? Who was his teacher? Who taught him?”

Another powerful man of God, the General Overseer and Resident Pastor of the World Miracle International Church, Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare, speaking on the issue, described as “pastorally and scripturally unethical” the renowned Prophet’s option of using the media to air his alleged prophesy saying “This is a message designed to create panic and despair.”

To him, Prophet Owusu Bempah should have used an appropriate channel to reach out to the Presidency by either consulting with the Presidency or the Spiritual leader of the President before going public.

He therefore prayed for long life for President Mahama in order to nullify the prophecy.

“By the authority vested in me as a Prophet and an Apostle to the nations, and also as one of the Spiritual watchmen at the gates of this nation and with the authority of heaven behind me, I declare that the president John Dramani Mahama will not die a premature death before his time, but he will live to declare the works of God.

“As an Apostle and a Prophet of God, I neutralize anything prophesied against the President, spoken against him, invoked against him, any psychic commands and demands, any agreement of witches and wizards and I decree that the counsel of the Lord alone concerning him that shall stand according to my word.”

Obviously riled by the criticisms from his colleague men of God, Rev. Owusu-Bempah, in an interview on PeaceFM during the station’s Midday Bulletin, retorted that Bishop Agyin Asare is ‘ignorant of what the Bible says’.

He indicated that had the man of God critically studied the Bible and how God truly works, he would not have made such pronouncements.

“When the deaths of former President Mills and Aliu Mahama occurred, these same people accused me of delaying in coming out with that prophecy, so why should he condemn it when I have come out to say it...they are not Prophets and so they should keep quiet - God spoke to me by revelation and that is what I voiced out...” Rev. Owusu-Bempah said.

He continued; “What does he mean by ‘it is not scriptural’? He is not making sense at all; it is absurd…Should we not pray if God has revealed to redeem? What will be my benefit if the President dies?...I don’t understand why the issue is being politicised. I will not listen to what they are saying because they are not spiritual people. I will continue to pray for the country...” adding that members of his church are already fasting and praying; seeking the face of God to avert the prophecy from coming to pass.

However, in a rather sharp riposte on the same PeaceFM platform, Rev Dr Wengham, who also doubles as Campus Pastor of the Assemblies of God Campus Ministry, University of Ghana Legon, President’s Nominee to the Ghana Prisons Council and CitiFM’s Resident Pastor, entreated Ghanaians to condemn “this populist way of trying to gain popularity.”

“He is not the only man of God in this country. We all pray for the nation and we’ve not seen anything like that, we’ve not sensed anything like that. So, I want to tell Ghanaians on authority that it is a false prophecy. They should disregard it,” he said.

According to him, the prophecy could cause “fear and panic” in the country adding that some men of God use the cloak of “religion and the bible” to “misbehave.”

“What he said can cause fear and panic in the country. Some can hide behind religion and the bible and then misbehave. What he did is not sound; it’s against the laws of the land. So, National Security should invite [him]…it will serve us a deterrent to any other person…the law of the land should take its course,” he asserted.

Whiles describing Rev. Owusu Bempah as a “false Prophet” since his prophecy about the outcome of the 2012 elections misfired, he however implored Ghanaians to pray for the life of President Mahama.

Pitroipa: “I will continue to fight”

The Stallions of Burkina Faso were beaten 1-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations 2013 final by Nigeria, but prefer to recall their superb South African campaign as they bid farewell to the continental tournament.

Paul Put’s men remained unbeaten until the final, only falling to the Super Eagles by the smallest of margins and only conceding three goals throughout the whole competition.

The Belgian technician paid homage to his players for their incredible team effort.

“Burkina have grown up through this competition.  I am proud of my players.  We did the best we could and that we have to accept,” stated Put to RFI after the match.

As per their coach, the Stallions have graciously accepted their defeat, admitting the superiority of the Nigerians on Sunday at Soccer City.

“Perhaps we lacked a bit of conviction in our game.  In the first half we were tense.  We wanted to defend, we wanted to attack and we didn’t know how Nigeria were going to play (…)  We hadn’t dreamt of getting to this stage of the competition.  We have to congratulate Nigeria for their mentality and their game,” admitted Charles Kaboré, one of the best Burkina Faso players of this Afcon 2013.

And their second place, undreamt of at kick-off of the tournament, represents a huge source of motivation for them.

“I think that what is happening to us, despite the defeat, is a good thing for the team.  I’m going to continue to work to progress because I believe that I can do even better.  I’m not going to give up, I will continue to fight,” promised Jonathan Pitroipa, elected best player of the South African Africa Cup.

So now it is with a feeling of mission accomplished and full of confidence that the Stallions’ camp have turned their eyes towards Brazil.

“The road ahead is still long, but it is very satisfying for a coach to see that the work put in over all these months has finally paid off.

“Now we have four matches left to qualify for the upcoming World Cup and this second place gives us a bit of confidence,” assured Paul Put.

The players and coaching staff of Burkina Faso are expected in Ouagadougou this Monday, where an exceptional welcome awaits them.
