HEARTS, LIBERTY IN A LOCAL DERBY.

 By Ebenezer Zor
The spotlight this weekend will be on the second local derby of the season between Phobia Accra Hearts of and the scientific soccer lads Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium in the match-day- eight of Ghana’s most prestigious 2012/2013 Glo Premier League

This a match christened us the landlords – Hearts against land guards- Liberty will be keenly contested as both teams are ravenous for victory despite all challenges from each side.

Accra Hearts traveled to Kumasi and share a vital points with Kotoko in the match day seven of the Glo premiership whereas Liberty 2 – 1 defeat deepened the wounds of Medeama at the T and A Park.

Hearts lies tenth with eight points whiles Liberty lies fourth with twelve points on the ongoing Glo premiership log.

At Tema Park, it will be fireworks as the harbor boys Tema Youth takes on the defending champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a dicey encounter. The two combatants in their respective last matches manage to accumulate just a point in their build up on the league log. Can Tema Youth end the unbeaten fame of Kumasi Asante Kotoko?

New Edubiase will test their pores against the pride of the North, Real Tamale United at the Gyamfi Park at Bekwai. Both teams lost their matches against Berekum Chelsea and Accra Hearts of Oak in their previous duels. Who wins?

Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs will be under so much pressure as they invite league leaders Berekum Chelsea to the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium in Cape Coast. Dwarfs who were banned to play home matches away will have all against the African Blues Chelsea on home soil.

Concurrently, the Dorman Ahenkro lads Aduana Stars will have a lot of mopping up to do as they welcome Victor Ahiakpor boys, Kpando Hearts of Lions at the Nana Agyemang Badu on Saturday in the match day eight of the Glo premiership. Aduana made Ashantigold tasted their first defeat after piping the Osono boys by a alone goal at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium where as Lions handed a 1- 0 win over King Faisal Babies.

This is battle fit for the gods.

And to the Golden City Park, the Gunners, Berekum Arsenals will take the bull by the horn as they come up against Ashantigold in the match-day-eight. The above clubs lost marginally to their opponents in the last matches. Notwithstanding, both clubs would like to pick up the pieces from where they halted.

Also, Coach Bashir Hayford Medeama will log it out against premiership promoted side Amidaus Professionals at the T and A Park, Tarkwa. Amidaus recorded their first victory of the season when they inflicted a painful 1- 0 win over Arsenals at Tema Park in the week seven fixture.

However Medeama who stands as favourite in this particular clash would not like to taste another third flop in the season after losing out to Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Liberty professionals’ consecutively on the bounce.

Elsewhere premiership returnee King Faisal will battle Wa all Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Faisal have lost their last three matches continuously could not afford to repeat such an abysmal show as they engage Nyantakyi’s All Stars in do or die affair.
