Premiership returnees, Real Tamale United were held to a 2-2 draw game by visiting team AshGold in the first round week one fixture of the 2012/2013 Glo Premier League last Sunday played at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
The two teams in the first department of the encounter created numerous opportunities but failed to put the ball behind each opponent net for the opener.
Occasionally the two goalkeepers- Collins Addo for RTU and Issac Ackon of AshGold were called to duty to save their teams on dangerous incursions in the goal area of each opponent ending the first half in a goalless.
Kwamena Emmaunel’s 58th minute strike pass Isaac Ackon in the second half after exerting pressure on AshGold broke the deadlock for the pride of the north.
AshGold fought tirelessly to cancel the deficit until finally a brilliant build up which found Yakubu Mohammed unmarked connected the ball into net of RTU for the equalizer in the 77th minute.
At this stage both teams went in for the kill for the three points at stake.Imediately former Hearts of Oak, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Medeame SC striker Louis Agyemang struck a shot in the 88th minute beyond the ridge of Collins Addo to increase the tally for Ashgold.
AshGold taught it was a done deal for them after 90 minutes. But referee William Agbovi’s three minutes of injury time rekindle RTU’s spirit whereby Aminu Mohammed bounced in a loose ball in the 93rd minute to settle the game at two all.
