Don’t shy starlets away.

As Ghanaians we expected nothing less of a trophy from the Black Starlets who unfortunately
won nothing at the just ended African Youth U-17 Championship in Morocco.

The twinkle starlets headed by Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin assisted by Isaac ‘Opele’ Boateng did their best but football noted for its uncertainties was the order of the tournament.

Yes, the players had individual brilliance which made them display skill and maturity but were just unfortunate.

Their failure must not be applauded with criticisms rather all stakeholders must come on board to rebuild the team to return back to its former days.

I would like to urge my fellow Ghanaians to keep the spirit and morale high, and continue to support the ‘twinkle twinkle’ starlets.

Long live the Black Starlets

Lewandowski is a ‘Special Striker'

I never dreamed that Borussia Dortmund’s talisman Robert Lewandowski could demolish Real
Madrid in the first semi-final stage of the 2013 Uefa Champions League last Wednesday at Westfalenstadion in Germany, and I now understand why Lewandowski is tagged the ‘Special Striker’.

The Polish striker scored four goals against Real Madrid to became one of the few players to have single-handily dismantled Real Madrid by such a margin of goals in the history of Uefa Champions League.

Lewandowski credentials were seen not to be too big after leaving Lech Poznan in 2010 to join German side Borussia Dortmund nicknamed 'The Black Yellows".

I would not be surprise if in the years to come he wins more laurels in his football career and most significantly the FIFA Ballon D’Or.

As i watched the game even the galaticoes defence set up could police Lewandowski as he was too much for them. No wonder teams like Bayern Munich, Manchester United and others are struggling to acquire his signature for their respective matches next season.

Indeed Robert Lewanowski is a trademark of a future world class player and I congratulate him for the wonderful things he is doing for the club and face of football at large.

He is a special striker destine for greatness and no one can take that from him.

A letter to FIFA

There have been new developments introduced into football by FIFA which eventually has become most widely-patronized sports in the world today.

Demonstrably, referees outfit, communication gadgets and certain rules amended have really made football very attractive and cherish by followers.

But one thing that has not changed is the number of substitution effected on the field of play. The substitution rule to some extent have made football interesting and enjoyable, however it is high time the football governing body FIFA take a second look at the number of players to make way for others in the course of a game.

Already, three players are allowed for substitution in a match knowing that only eleven players can play in a match occasionally. As a result more players are allowed to be benched or not even called to camp in a whole season hence not getting the chance to play and get experience.

At the world stage out of 23 players only 14 including substitution are used by each team per match. So what happens to the rest?

I opine that the number of players to be substituted per match should surpass three somewhere five. This will give a chance to some players who are equally good to gather experience and also dwindle tiredness.

appeal to FIFA and its comrades to change the substitution rule to beautify the game more.

Hearts must sweep aside Kotoko

The world is yet to witness another episode of Ghana’s version of El Clasico involving Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko for Glo premiership match day 24 this Sunday at the Accra Sorts Stadium.

As a die-hard phobia I write to motivate my once upon a time continental masters, Hearts to live up to expectation to ensure total massacre against bitterest rivals, Asante Kotoko.

Hearts have been very impressive in the second round of the ongoing Glo Premiership winning at least their last two matches on the bounce eventually sending them to the middle of the table is noteworthy.

I must say Coach David ‘The Special One’ Duncan has caused a positive stir to the phobia fraternity.

However, Kotoko after seeing them blown out from the CAF Champions League aims at defending their title but a game of this standard can never be predicted on current from.

The rivalry of this nature always lives up to its billing, however those of us in the phobia fold expect the best from Hearts at the end of the 90 minutes.

Long Live Hearts of Oak, Phooooooooooooobia- Never Say Die.

Three things to ensure violence-free Hearts-Kotoko clash

As Ghana’s two most glamorous sides, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko slug it out on Sunday
in the second round of  Glo premiership league match day 24, three things are of paramount to many fellows are good officiating, fans conduct and security.

Usually, the outcome of matches involving these great traditional teams is unpredictable before the game.

At times they end in dreadful scenes due to bad officiating, indiscipline huge followers and poor security measures.

In other to experience a violence-free game on Sunday, I suggest that Referee Associations of Ghana (RAG) should appoint unbiased and competent referee who when given the benefit of the doubt could ensure good.

Supporters of both teams should refrain from comments or quibbles that are likely to spark controversy leading to mayhem or turmoil during the game. They should know that football is to unite us all not create foes.

Even before the game kick start players together with technical bench from both ends must exchange pleasantries to defuse tension that may build among spectators.

Not only that. The Professional League Board (PLB) should beef up security at the stadium.

Dilating on security, personnel from thenational quarters should also exercise some degree of patience and calmness in discharging their respectable duties.

The security personnel must not spare anyone who attempt to take the law into his or her own hands on that particular day.

With these measures, the game will be violence-free and I wish both teams the best of luck.

Bayern Munich proved Barc wrong!

I was shocked to the bone when my team Barcelona convincingly

Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben (left) and Barcelona's Gerard Pique battle for the ball

lost 4-0 away to Bayern Munich in their Ueaf Champions league first semi-final  tie last Tuesday at Allianz Arena.

As i watch closely amidst Bayern fans whom from the on set were certain of victory as they engaged their opponent in a lot of verbal salvo among other observers.

There were only few Barc fans among the lot as if it was glare that Barc had lost the game which came to pass.

It was one of the best ever performance displayed by the Bavarians for proving Barc wrong as compare to other equal approaches to other games.

In fact my night was unpleasant as Bayern Munich really outclassed and outplayed my team Barcelona.

Frankly put it, am always proud supporting the best team across the globe thus Barcelona for their stylish and computerized artistry even though is a shame to loose by that huge number of goals in European club championships.

My piece will not be complete without giving thumps up Bayern Munich for such an explicit showmanship but for my team Barc, with a second leg to play on May 1 it is complete uncertain for the team to be in the grande finale of the 2013 Ueaf Champions league to be staged at Wembley Stadium, England.

3:00 pm for Glo premiership kick off should be maintained.

There will be serious confrontations if football fellows agreed to reschedule the kick off time for our premiership from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.

Over the years the kick off time has been 3:00 pm time memorial and that to some extent have prevented matches to play in the gloom.

The fact that Ghana’s league is ranked third in Africa does not necessarily mean the premiership should kick off at 4:00 pm which glaringly it will eat into the evenings where probably there would be challenges.

Considering all the 16 teams, apart from stadia-Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Sekondi, Obuasi do the rest of the league centers have flood lights to ensure crystal-clear play assuming the 4:00 pm is agreed from all quarters?

One could possibly imagine the can of frustration, oppression and repercussion some teams would face if the kick off time should moved from 3:00 pm t0 4:00 pm.

Referees assisted by their able lines-men cannot be left out from this problem as they would be forced to redouble their eyes to ensure quality officiating if the kick off would be shifted to 4:00 pm.

Beside this point, at times some league centers do not start on the exact stipulated period allocated for the match to commence.

Until the various league centers have flood lights, the kick off time should not be changed.

RTU , better luck next time

The fall of a man is not the end of life. I say this because with some few games  to close
curtains on the Glo premiership 2012/2013 season Real Tamale United has already kissed bye-bye to the topflight.

RTU formed in 1976 has not won a single match this season coupled with the fact they served a ban for playing home games away as a result of crowd violence in the 5th week encounter against Medeame in Tamale.

RTU cannot escape relegation as they are the last team at the bottom of the table carrying others with only five points of the said matches played so far.

Some seasons back, this same side was relegated due to poor performance and this time they are not exception.

Personally RTU belongs to the elite league because players likeWilliam Owusu Acheampong, Toufiq Alolo , Meastro Abedi Pele, Mohammed Gago,  Hamza Mohammed, Alfa Potowabawi  and others have passed the hands of this team and it will sad for them to look back for their former club to once again visit the division one league.

Per my calculations RTU can not survive in this league even if they win all the remaining matches which is impossible.

RTU must go back to work harder to take the rightful place in the topflight if God permits.
