Armed robbers attack Kasoa new market

Traders at the Kasoa new market have appealed to Awutu-Senya East Member of Parliament (MP) and Awutu-Senya District Security Council to beef up security at the facility to stop rampant attacks by armed robbers.
The market women who made the appeal when Mrs Mavis Hawa Koomson, the MP interacted with them at the weekend said, almost every day the armed robbers attack and rob them of their monies and other valuables.

The situation compelled them to end their business activities at 1800 hours to prevent the robberies.

The District Assembly was also asked to remove traders operating at the old market to the new site to help boost business activities.

The market women also called on the Assembly to improve the lighting system in the market to increase security.

Mrs Koomson assured the traders that she was in contact with Kasoa Police Command to beef up security at the market.

The MP said she has also contacted Awutu-the District Assembly to eject traders doing business at unauthorised places to move to the market.

She advised the market women to form co-operatives to enable them secure financial assistance from the banks to improve their businesses.

Mrs Koomson said the Assembly is erecting big sheds at the market for traders who cannot afford to pay GH¢700.00 to acquire stalls.

She said she had presented a generator plant to Kasoa Prisons in fulfillment of her campaign promises and promised an ambulance to Kasoa Health Centre.
