It was the best
performance in this season as Accra Hearts of Oak recorded a 4-0 victory over
Heart of
Lions at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium in Cape Coast. Hearts of Oak
playing away from home as result of crowd violence some couple of weeks ago really
impressed football folks the mid week fixture.
Before the game, Accra Hearts
of Oak’s 14th position on the league log was worrying as it created a
lot of permutations among the football fraternity.
One thing that
motivated the boys to go all out against Heart of Lions at Robert Mensah Sports
Stadium to eventually win their 22 fixture of the Ghana Premier League
sponsored by First Capital Plus Bank was the presence of the old and new board
members. This has pushed the team up to 11th position with seven
matches to end the season.
Per statistics this season,
Hearts of Oak has won seven games, drawn eight and lost eight matches out of 23
games played so far. With the win against Lions in the mid-week, is the phobia
spirit back?
This feat should not
end if they want to move away from the relegation zone and even stay in for the
next season. The management and the technical bench must do more to get the
best of result in their next game against New Edubiase away.
Though Heart of Lions came
into the game with a winning mentality, the phobians lived up to the accolade; “We never say die until the bones are
rotten”.
