STEPS TO CONQUER THE ENEMY

Enemy is someone who opposes someone else and tries to do harm to them. (Macmillan English Dictionary for Advanced Learners International Student Edition).

“An open foe may prove a curse, but a pretended friend is worse” John Gay

In a general sense, enemy could refer to persons, objects, ideas, images, sounds, words, forces or anything that hinders and destroy the growth, peace and freedom of something. The presence of enemies is to still, destroy and kill the stability your have enraptured in your families, schools, offices, churches, relationships, marriages and institutions or industries.

SIGNS OF AN ENEMY.
v  An enemy tempts us to sin. Temptation means encouraging one to sin. “Satan rose up against Israel and caused David to take a census of the people of Israel.”1 Chronicles 21:1; Genesis 3:1-4, Job 1:6-12,            Matthew 4:1-11, Acts 5:1-3.
v  An enemy is always envy at God’s Children. Jesus Christ was arrested out of envy. “He knew very that the religious leaders had arrested Jesus out of envy”. Matthew 27:18.
v  An enemy is jealous. “So from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David”. 1Samuel 18:9.
v  An enemy is tricky. “Don’t make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life”. Psalm 62:10
v  An enemy does not appreciate anything. “But Saul sent the troops back to get bed so I can kill.” 1 Samuel 19:15.
v  An aims at killing. “Then Saul sent troops to watch David’s when he came out the next morning. But Michal, David’s wife, warned him,” If you don’t escape tonight, you will be dead the next morning”. 1Samuel 19:11.
HOW DOES THE ENEMY TEMPT US?
It is situations that give the enemy the dog chance to tempt us to sin. And this could be seen in areas like;
v  Always taking to easy ways in life. “But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it”. Matthew 7:14
v  Passionate about materialistic things in the world. “What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits a person who does the tempting”. Matthew 18:7
v  Through evil deeds. “Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.” James 1:14-15.
Exhibiting pride over all things. “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer* is overcome by some sin, you who are godly* should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation”. Galatians

STEPS TO CONQUER ENEMIES
The NLTB in Colossians 2:13-14 reads; “You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all your sins. He cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it way by nailing it to the cross”.The first step to conquer the enemy, is to desire for a spiritual rebirth by the power of Christ Jesus. Desiring for the spiritual rebirth requires doing away with the old life and clinging to the new life by the power of Christ Jesus.
In certifying yourself as a “Born again” in order to conquer the enemy, you must believe in the Lord Christ Jesus. First (1) John 5:1 says; “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ* has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too”. In that same vein Christians must learn to fully surrender their lives to God. James chapter 4:7 says” Submit yourselves to God, resists the devil and he will flee from you”.

Do you want surrender?

Then say this” God Almighty, by the authority given to Christ Jesus, I now place my body, soul and spirit and my entire life into your hands. My Lord and personal saviour come into my life.

Teach and put me in your perfect will for my life. From today, I choose to surrender all the days of my life. Direct my life in the way that you want my life to be. I thank for accepting me in the Mighty name of Christ Jesus. Beloved there you go, with faith and believe a new chapter of life have been opened to you.

“To see what is right and do not do it is want of courage” Confucius

STEP 2: You must always draw the presence of the Holy Spirit in whatever you attempt doing. “Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

“A character is a by-product; it is produced in the great manufacture of daily duty” Woodrow Wilson

STEP 3: You must study the word of God daily to increase your spiritual growth. Joshua 1:8 which says” Study this book of instruction continually, meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do”.

“Sow an act, and you reap a habit. Sow a habit, and you reap a character. Sow a character, and you reap a destiny”. Charles Reade

STEP 4: Again you must be prayerful and even pray for your enemies also. Philippians 4:16 says, “Don’t worry about anything, instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has one”.
“Silence is the virtue of fools”. Francis Bacon

STEP 5: You must believe in the efficacy of the anointing oil. Believing in the anointing means allowing the pouring of oil on God’s servant to perform the following:
For beautifying oneself …. Ruth 3:3 and Psalm 104:15
For healing …….. Luke 10:43, James 5:14
For dedicating officials to God ……. Exodus 29:7, 1 Samuel 10:1, 1Kings 19:16
For dedicating things to God ……..  Genesis 28:18, Exodus 40:9-11

“God is a circle whose center is everywhere and circumference is nowhere” Empedocles

STEP 6: You must allow or invoke the Angels of God to fight on your behalf. Angels are ministering spirits sent by God to protect and deliver messages to his children. Psalm 91: 11 says” For he will order his angels to protect you whenever you go”.

“Advice is seldom welcome; and those who want it the most, always like the least”. Lord Chesterfield.

STEP 7: Always think positively and prepare for the worse. By so doing, do good all the time in order to conquer the enemy or evil. Romans 12:21 reads; “Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good”.

“What we have to learn to do, we learn by doing”. Aristotle

STEP 8: Your enemies may employ all the skills to downplay you, but in all things do not be intimidated by their acts or actions. Philippians 1:28 reads; “Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself.”

“The storms of life are intended to make us better, not bitter”. John Hagee.

STEP 9: Always let hymns and praise be on your lips all the time. “…………………I will sing in spirit, and I will also sing in words that I understand.” I Corinthians 14:5
“Music, the greatest good that mortals know. And all of heaven we have below”. Joseph Addison

STEP 10: Never forsake the gathering of the saints or congregation. “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his returning is drawing near”. Hebrews 10:25

“Change is not possible until you accept responsibility for yourself”. John Hagee

STEP 11: You must exercise your power in you by Christ Jesus.
The power to select ……………. The word power means authority to have dominion, control over all things. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked.
“My rabbi, *”the blind man said, “I want to see!”. Mark 10:51. Beloved what do you want God to do for you? This means that Jesus gave him the power to select.  So therefore with faith and believe you can exercise the power of selection through Christ Jesus.

The power to be yourself …………. Jesus gave you the power to be yourself. “So I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen”. 2 Timothy 2:10

The power to heir all things ……….  The word says he has made as Kings and Priests. “I tell you the truth, you can say this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea, ‘ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart”. Mark 11:23

“Power wears down the man who doesn’t have it”. Giulio Andreotti

STEP 12: You must honor tithes to safeguard your life. Malachi 3:10 reads, “Bring all the tithes into the store house so there will be enough food in my temple.
If you do it says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. I will open the windows of heaven or you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

“He who gives makes himself richer, for his own gift opens to him the gift of God”. William Barclay

STEP 13: Beloved you must know God’s purpose for you life and wait patiently for it to manifest. “For I know the plans I have for you, “says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope”. Jeremiah 29:11

“Winning starts with beginning”. Robett Schucler

STEP 14: You must practice and encourage the golden rule of life. “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” Matthew 7:12

“To profit from good advice requires more wisdom than to give it.”          Churtson Collins

STEP 15: Learn to recite the word of God all the time. Micah 7:8
“Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.”
“The general who wins the battle makes many calculations in his temple before the battle is fought. The general who loses makes but few calculations beforehand.”             Sun Tzu.

STEP 16: Reach out others with the word of God.”If the righteous are rewarded here on earth, what will happen to wicked enemies?”  Proverbs 11:32

“Success begins when you look out for human needs and reach out for them. For you are nothing and incapable of conquering the enemy if you do not help someone to be great". Ebenezer Zor

STEP 17: Do not love the things of the world but that of the Father in heaven only. “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers a craving for physical pleasures, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world”. 1 John 2:15-16.

“Truth is the cry of all, but the game of few”. Bishop George Berkeley

STEP 18: Follow or listen to instructions. “And athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules”. 2 Timothy 2:5.

“Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you have not planted”. David Bly

STEP 19: You must dislike the seven things of the Lord. “There are six things the Lord hates- no, seven things he detests: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family”. Proverbs 6:16-19

“If your lips would keep from slips; Five things observe with care; to whom you speak, of whom you speak, and how and when and where”. Anon

STEP 20: You must always trust in the Lord. Trusting in the Lord means living in the world by believing in His ways not by seeing. “But the people who know their God will be strong and will resist him (the enemy). Daniel 11:32 b

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed”. Proverbs 16:3 (NIV).

Whatever situation you are going through today, by power of Christ Jesus I release you from any form of captivity in Mighty name of Christ Jesus. Amen
You are blessed.

WHAT IS TEMPERAMENT?

Temperament is what makes you do or act in a way which is within oneself. Temperament is like the color of your eyes, hair, genotype, gender and so on. One of the problems that destroy friendship, relationships, and marriages is our debility to know the kind of temperament people possess.

Socialist Forum asks government not send soldiers to Cote d'Ivoire

The Socialist Forum of Ghana has appealed to the Government not to allow Ghanaian soldiers to participate in any military intervention in Cote d'Ivoire.

Mr Kwesi Adu, Member of the Forum, described the incident in Cote d'Ivoire as travesty and deception of the world.

He said: "It is the deception and orchestration, which some West African leaders would like Ghanaian soldiers to join to install a President with an inconclusive election results".

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Thursday, Mr Adu said if the UN Security Council had adopted the recent decision of the Economic Commission of West African State (ECOWAS) to turn the peacekeepers into partisan fighters, the rationale for which the government agreed to send troops would have been changed.

The press conference was to express concern on the deteriorating situation in Cote d'Ivoire and attempts by some foreign governments and organisations to stimulate civil and military strife in the country.

Mr Adu said West African leaders were demanding an amendment to the role of peacekeeping force from that of peacekeepers - protection and monitoring role - but rather seeking for belligerent and offensive war machine on the side of one of the contending parties.

He said ECOWAS had no evidence to convince the world that the second round of the Ivorian Presidential election results were conclusive and credible because it had failed to send election observer teams to monitor the elections.

"It is an established tradition of ECOWAS to send election observer team[s] to monitor elections in West Africa. In the case of the November 2010 election in Cote d'Ivoire, ECOWAS observer has not been able to publish an interim report, four clear months after the election".

Mr Adu said a report made by Societe Civile Africaine pour la Democratie et l'Assistance Electoral (OSCADAE), a non-governmental organization (NGO), revealed that representatives of President Laurent Gbagbo were denied access to polling stations and ballot boxes were transported by men in military uniform without representatives from the Electoral Commission.

The NGO also indicated that curfew was not observed in the Northern, Western and Central parts of the country and opening of polling stations were delayed for about 30 minutes to an hour.

Mr Adu therefore declared the second round of voting in Cote d'Ivoire as unfair and unclear.

Intensify education on iodised salt use - Medical Practitioner

Dr Charles Ackah, a research fellow at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), has called for more education on iodised salt usage and the enforcement of the law on iodated salt consumption.

Speaking at a seminar on a study conducted by Professor Clemence Ahiadeke a Director at ISSER, Dr Ackah and Ms Adjoa Acquah, a Research Assistant at ISSER, on the theme: "Factors influencing the use of adequately iodated salt in Ghana," Dr Ackah said although there had been some education on the use of iodated salt, most people were not using it.

Some of the factors influencing the use of adequately iodised salt included the level of education of the household, especially the head. The study showed that household where the head had been educated at least to the Junior Secondary School (JSS) level were more likely to use adequately iodated salt, while those who had no education, were less likely to do so.

The study also showed that the more wealthy a household was, the more likely it was that it would use adequately iodised salt and vice versa.

Dr Ackah stated that the gender of the family head was one of the strongest factors associated with the use of adequately iodised salt.

A family where the head was female was found to use more iodised salt than one where the head was male.

Participants at the seminar noted that the wide use of non-iodised salt by most people was due to its availability and affordability as opposed to the iodised salt which is more expensive.

Madam Theodocia Ofosu-Appiah, Monitoring Officer at United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF) said the lack of enforcement of the law on consumption of iodated salt was due to the fact that there were many producers of salt.

She added that they were working with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Food and Drugs Board to enforce the law.

The required level of iodine for human consumption is 15 Parts Per Million(ppm), however due to cooking processes in Ghana, which reduces the level of iodine, the required amount at factory level is 50ppm, which would be reduced when cooked.

Iodine deficiency causes ailments such as goiter, stunted growth, malnutrition in children under five years and pregnant women.

SECURITY PARAMOUNT IN HEARTS-KOTOKO MATCH

As the two traditional clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko battle it out on Sunday in the 22nd week encounter of the Glo Premier League, one thing that is important to many fans is security.

Often the outcome of matches involving these great two is unpredictable before the game. Sometimes they end in violence due to the huge following of both clubs.

In order to experience a violent-free game on Sunday, i would advocate that, the Professional League Board (PLB) should beef up security at the stadium to prevent any violence.

Again, before  the game would commence, the players of both teams should exchange pleasantries just as the technical bench of the teams  do, and this could help defuse the tension that may build up among the  spectators.

Not only that, supporters of both teams should be advised to refrain from comments and arguments that are likely to ignite any form of controversy leading to mayhem during the  game.Rather they should be made to understand that football is to bring people together but not create enemies.

Above all, our security forces should exercise some amount of patience when discharging the duties, and they should look out for anybody who will attempt to take the law into his own hands and not spare them at all.

I can guarantee an incident-free game before and the after the game. I wish both teams the best of luck.

OH JUDGE ME NOT!

Oh Judge me not!
The world seems to be against me
Even nature has not been fair to me either
I have been a navigator for the truth this while.

Yet I have not stopped fighting against the obstacles of life
Today, they accused me of a crime I have not committed
And have been charged for being guilty of your love, oh my Lord!

The accusers are waiting for your ruling over this case.
My Lord, am I guilty or not guilty of your love?
If I have to defend myself, I would say

Let me be in the prison of your heart
Serving your heart with love for the rest of the days my Lord!

TOENAILS CAN REVEAL LUNG CANCER

Scientists say they have found a new way to predict lung cancer - by looking at a person's toenail clippings.

Experts at the University of San Diego in California have found that measuring nicotine levels in clippings can give a fairly accurate idea of future risk.

Slow-growing toenails provide a barometer of chronic smoke exposure the American Journal of Epidemiology says.

Men with the highest readings were over three times as likely to get lung cancer as those with the lowest.

Toenails not only spot which smokers are most at risk but also which non-smokers are as well.

The researchers studied more than 800 men, some with lung cancer and some without.

Toenail nicotine levels were found to be a strong predictor of lung cancer.

Some of the men with the highest levels of nicotine were non-smokers who, presumably, had been exposed via passive smoking.

Lung cancer is the most common cancer in the world with 1.61 million new cases diagnosed every year.

The vast majority of lung cancers are caused by cigarette smoking.
The lifetime risk of developing lung cancer is thought to be 1 in 14 for men and 1 in 19 for women in the UK.

About 41,000 people were diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK in 2008, which equates to 112 people every day.

COACH HERBERT ADDO CHASES FOOTBALL FAN WITH KNIFE

Coach Herbert Addo
Coach Herbert Addo put up a dramatic yet disappointing display at the Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro Wednesday after his Aduana Stars team was held to a goalless draw by visiting Liberty Professionals in a match day 20 fixture of the Glo Premier League.

The local Black Stars trainer chased an angry fan with a sharp object suspected to be a knife after a frustrating confrontation.

Joy Sports correspondent Oduro Anim Apau said supporters of Aduna Stars who obviously were unhappy with the results openly expressed their frustrations.

In the process, one supporter approached the coach who was driving away after the match and all of a sudden, Coach Addo, pulled up, pulled a sharp instrument thought to be a knife and gave the fan a hot chase.

Elsewhere at the Accra Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak lifted themselves above the drop zone after a vital 2-1 win over debutants Mighty Jets.

Two first half strikes from Abraham Annan and Uriah Asante sealed victory for the Phobians.

Assistant Coach of Hearts, Shaibu Tanko says securing victory was not an easy task.

Hearts Midfielder Uriah Asante believes the Phobians can end the season on a high note.

Elsewhere at the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea fought to maintain their 10 point lead on top of the league ladder after defeating Ebusua Dwarfs 1-0.

Second placed Medeama FC posted a 2-1 win over Berekum Arsenals in Tarkwa.

Aduana Stars stayed in third position despite their goalless draw with Liberty Professionals in Dormaa.

Asante Kotoko held fourth placed New Edubiase to a one-all draw at the Gyamfi Park.

Bottom placed BA Stars nicked a 1-0 win over Wa All Stars in Sunyani. And, All Stars Coach Maxwell Konadu says the relegation candidates were worthy winners.

In other results, RTU secured a 3-0 win over Heart of Lions at the Tamale Stadium and King Faisal dropped into the relegation zone after drawing goalless with AshantiGold at the Baba Yara Stadium.

BAFFOE HAILS FIGHT AGAINST RACISM

Tony Baffoe
Ex-Ghana international Tony Baffoe has praised Fifa's efforts at stamping out discrimination from the game.

Baffoe, a victim of racial abuse during his playing career in Germany says the sport is gradually growing out of the stigma as compared to the past.

The former defender in an interview with Fifa.com shared his personal experiences as a black player in the Bundesliga.

"Discrimination has a lot to do with ignorance and non-acceptance. For me, as a young kid growing up in Germany, I experienced discrimination with my own flesh. Today, in 2011, a lot of things have improved, but there's still a long way to go for us to say there is only one race, and that's the human race. The world is changing step by step, and when we are all equal, then we will be able to talk about one human nature," Baffoe told Fifa.com.

Baffoe recounted the role he and ex-Ghana striker Tony Yeboah played to help change the perception against the black player.

"I was one of the first well-recognised black players. I remember very well, I think it was in 1991, that myself, Tony Yeboah and Souleymane Sane wrote an open letter about racism intentionally to the Bild Zeitung. And from there on, there was some change: there were flags for us and supporters started to come out against racism and things were generally getting better."

Comparing football in the past to now, Baffoe explains that Fifa has done a wonderful job in curbing racist abuse within the game.

"FIFA has done a good job at promoting Anti-Discrimination Days and also making it a major issue at World Cups.

"There are great ideas there, and the number of players as ambassadors are good, and there are other groups, like FARE [Football Against Racism in Europe], Kick-Out Racism and FIFPro, the player's organisation. There are a lot of players with big names, not only black players, but European players, white players, that are also championing the cause against racism, and that is a very positive signal.

"I do think that we do not have enough black managers, so we have to continue to work on making changes," Baffoe said.

7 keys for a successful living

Apostle Victor Annan
1.      Vision-experience slimly to dreams through which supernatural insight or awareness is given by revelation, but the different between a dream and the vision is that drams occur only during sleeping while vision could happen while a person is awake (Dan 10vs7) Paul also had a wonderful vision from God which he told the king Agrippa that he is not disobedient to the heavily vision. So my brothers and sisters whatsoever your vision is pals don’t give it up.

2.      Purpose-an aim or meaning in your life because there is something you went to achieve, Paul told us that all things work together for good to those who are called according to his purpose so one of the thing you must understand is that God has a purpose for your life, brothers and sisters let go for the purpose of God

3.      Foundation-the strong stable base which a building is build, Jesus talked figurative about foundation in the Simon on the mountain, teaching that believers should build their faith on the strong foundation of practicing his teachings(Matthew 7vs24-27)the Apostle Paul also referred to Christ as a foundation for believer(1cor 3vs10-11)

4.      Discipline-to train yourself to behave in a particular way, especially to work regular or train by instruction and self control (1cor9vs27) the biblical concept of discipline has both positive side and negative aspect, the positive aspect is instruction, knowledge and training and the negative aspect is correction, punishment and reproof, those who refuse to submit to Gods positive discipline by obeying his laws will experience Gods negative discipline through his wrath and judgment.

5.      Persistence-containing to do something in a determined way or doing something especially for a longer than you would like, for example a covenant seed of Abraham Isaac in (gen26vs18-24) he went to dug a well and their took it from him and he dug another one the philistine came for it but by the power of persistence he dig the third and for that no one came for it he called the place (Rehoboth) for the lord has been with him and the lord bless him there.

6.      Faithfulness-dependability, loyalty and stability particularly as it describes God in his relationship to human believers, the faithfulness of God and his word is a constant theme in the bible, it is particularly prominent in( psalms 89 and 119) God is the covenant God who keeps covenant (Duet 7vs9)and chooses Israel (isa49vs7)great is his faithfulness(lam3vs23)it is not surprising that this aspect of Gods nature should be also belong to the messiah, who would be clothed with faithfulness(isa11vs5)and who is described as a faithfulness one(rev19vs11)faithfulness to  ones fellowman is seen especially in relation to fulfilling an office. A steward must be found faithful (1cor4vs2) just as Daniel and other person in the bible exercises their faithfulness towards God (Dan6vs4 and 2 Timor 2vs2).

Prayer-prayer is a communication between God and man “GOD’S great plan for the        redemption of mankind is as much bound up to prayer for it’s prosperity and success as when the decree creating the movement was issued from the

Father, bearing on its frontage the imperative, universal and eternal condition, "Ask of
Me, and I will give thee the heathen for thy inheritance and the uttermost part of the earth
For thy possession."

APPIAH DESERVES BEFITTING HONOUR

Stephen Appiah
As Ghana prepares for the next international football against the Three Lions of England, let us properly pay farewell to the Ex-Black Stars captain, Stephen ‘Tornado’
Appiah, for his immense contribution to the senior national team over the years.

Appiah started his international career in 1997, and currently plies his trade with Cesena in the Italian Serie A.

He was a member of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup winning team of 1995 in Ecuador, and had 62 caps with 14 goals for Ghana during all illustrious career.

As a matter of fact, he captained the senior national team at two different World Cups, first in Germany in 2006 and then in South Africa in 2010, although his involvement at South Africa was largely limited to the role of a substitute.

He was phenomenal and an icon for the younger generation of Ghanaian footballers. I would suggest that we use the England encounter slated for March 29 at the famous Wembley to honor or say a proper farewell to him. He deserves it.

Again, I would urge that the Ministry of Sports through Ghana Football Association (GFA) and other stakeholders in Ghana football come together to honor our heroes at all times.

When this is done it would encourage up and coming sportsmen and sportswomen in the various fields to give their best for the country.
