“David escaped and went to Samuel in
Ramah and told him everything that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel
went to Naioth and stayed. “1 Samuel 19:18
King
of Israel, Saul, became jealous of Jesse’s son called David. King Saul’s
ill-feeling towards David became intense immediately God guided David to defeat
Goliath with a sling of smooth stones hailed with songs of praise from the then
women. The people’s king, Saul, was tormented by an evil spirit after he disobeyed
God. King Saul did everything to get rid of David. He furthered his plan
through his children Jonathan (David’s best friend) and Michal (David’s wife)
to kill David.
Both
on the contrary, helped David to escape their father’s wrath. He wanted David dead
so that his son, Jonathan assumes kingship. Saul accused David without any
concrete evidence. One thing we must note; evil practitioners, accusers,
ungodly individuals or entities do not welcome good.
Saul
bent on killing David, organized his men to apprehend David at Naioth. Upon
their arrival, the spirit of the Lord took control of them and made their
attack fell through. “Then Saul
sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets
prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon
the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. When it was told Saul, he sent other
messengers, and they also prophesied. And Saul sent messengers again the third
time, and they also prophesied” 1 Samuel
19:20-21
King Saul sounded
unconvincing. So he set for Ramah to kill David himself. Again God silence
Saul’s evil plans toward David. “And he went there to
Naioth in Ramah. And the Spirit of God came upon him also, and as he went he
prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah. And he too stripped off
his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and lay naked all that day and
all that night. Thus it is said, “Is Saul also among the prophets?” 1Samuel
19:23-24
Though we may have accusers
in certain departments of life, they will fail because God is on our side. Let
this piece urge you despite what is trending.
David in Psalm 140:11 said “Let not the
slanderer be established in the land; let evil hunt down the violent man
speedily!” This should be your prayer
daily.
Remember, God will make any
negative stronghold in our lives fall in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Amen.
